Hoekstra 2011: Is there potential for the treatment of children with ADHD beyond psychostimulants?

Concerned about the enormous increase in use of psychostimulant drugs such as Ritalin, the authors of this editorial discuss the research supporting the use of other options.  In particular, they find the following treatments promising:

  •  Food-based interventions such as elimination diets
  •  EEG (electroencephalogram) based neurofeedback
  •  Family-focused interventions and prevention
