Khan 2020: Ivermectin treatment may improve the prognosis of patients with COVID-19

Comparison of Outcomes in 248 patients from Table 1Archivos de Bronconeumologia, 2020;56(12):816–830

The authors describe a clinical study in Bangladesh, in which half of 248 patients (without underlying conditions) received standard care, while half received standard care plus ivermectin.   A 12 mg dose of ivermectin was given just once on the first day of hospitalization.

The ivermectin was safe, and nasal swab tests showed that the virus was cleared in about 4 days, as opposed to  15 days in those getting only standard care.  This also greatly reduced the days of viral shedding, thus reducing the spread of the virus.

QUOTE:  “Collectively, the present findings suggest that ivermectin induced rapid SARS-CoV-2 clearance could reduce COVID-19 disease progression and community transmission.”
